Terms of Use
The agreement between you and Recorderly when you use this site or book a kit. Written to be read, not skimmed past.
About these terms
Who this agreement is between, and when it applies.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to the Recorderly website and your booking of a camera kit or editing package ("the service"). "We", "us" and "Recorderly" mean the operator of this site. "You" means the person booking, and anyone you allow to use a kit you booked.
By browsing this site or placing an order you accept these Terms. If you don't accept them, don't book. If you're booking on behalf of someone else — a family member, an employer, a client — you confirm you're allowed to agree to these Terms for them.
You must be at least 18 years old to book.
What we provide
The packages, and the limits of what's promised.
Depending on the package you choose, we provide some or all of the following:
- A rented kit of pocket 4K cameras with wireless clip-on mics, batteries, a charging dock, memory cards, a tabletop tripod and accessories, shipped to a US address before your event.
- Shipping in both directions, including a prepaid return label in the case.
- An edited highlight film assembled from the footage recorded on the kit, or from footage you upload on the editing-only package.
- Two rounds of notes on the edit, and any add-ons you purchase.
Film lengths quoted on this site are typical ranges, not guarantees. The finished film reflects the footage that actually exists. We edit to the material rather than padding to a target length. If a kit comes back with too little usable footage for us to make a film at all, we won't charge you for one — see the footage guarantee in section 04.
Equipment in the kit is rented, not sold. Title stays with us at all times.
Booking and payment
What you pay and when.
Prices are shown in US dollars and are the prices in effect when you book. Sales tax is added where required.
You may pay in full at booking, or, if your event is more than 30 days away, hold the date with a $149 deposit. The deposit is part of your order price, not an additional charge, and it is refundable for 30 days after you pay it. If you pay a deposit, you authorize us to charge the remaining balance to the same payment method automatically eight weeks before your event. If that charge fails and isn't resolved before the ship date, we may cancel the booking and treat the deposit as a cancellation fee.
Separately from that deposit, we don't hold a security deposit against the equipment and we don't pre-authorize your card for its value. Fees for loss, damage or late return are invoiced after the fact.
You can add cameras or add-ons up until the kit ships. Additions are charged at the prices in effect when you add them.
Changes, cancellations and refunds
Moving a date is free. Cancelling late is not.
- Cancelling more than 60 days before your ship date: full refund.
- Between 60 and 14 days before the ship date: everything refunded except the deposit.
- Inside 14 days of the ship date: non-refundable, because the kit is packed and routed.
- Moving your date more than 7 days before the ship date: free, with no limit on the number of changes.
- Moving your date inside 7 days of the ship date: a $60 rebooking fee.
Refunds go back to the original payment method. If we cancel a booking for a reason that isn't your fault, you get a full refund, and that refund is the limit of what we owe you.
Footage guarantee. If your kit comes back and there isn't enough usable footage for us to cut a film, you don't pay for the film. We refund your order in full except a 20% restocking fee on the package price, which covers holding and shipping a kit on a date we could not rent to anyone else. Add-ons are refunded in full and nothing is delivered. We make that call after reviewing every clip, and we show you what came back before we do. Two limits: it does not apply to the editing-only package, where you supply the footage and the cancellation terms above govern instead; and it does not waive fees for equipment that is lost, destroyed or returned late, which are charged separately under section 05.
The kit, its care and its return
Normal wear is covered. A kit that doesn't come back is not.
The kit arrives about five days before your event. Test each camera when it lands. If something isn't working, tell us the same day so we have time to send a replacement.
Scuffs, scratches and drops are normal wear on equipment handed around at a party, and we don't charge for them. What we do charge for:
- $325 per camera and $45 per wireless mic that is lost, stolen or destroyed, including water damage. We attempt to recover footage first wherever possible.
- $25 per day for every day past the seventh day after your event that the kit hasn't been handed to a carrier.
Everything that arrived goes back, mics included. The kit must be in transit within five days of your event using the prepaid label in the case. You're responsible for the kit from the moment it's delivered until the carrier scans it on the return trip.
Cameras are not waterproof. Rain, pools and the ocean will end one, and that falls under the replacement fee above.
We ship to and from US addresses only. You may travel domestically or internationally with the kit, but the return has to originate in the US.
Your responsibilities
The part that involves other people.
You are the host. Everyone who picks up a camera does so under your invitation, and you're responsible for how the kit is used at your event. In particular, you agree that:
- You'll let your guests know the event is being filmed, and you'll respect anyone who asks not to be. A sign, a line in the invitation or a word from the host is usually enough.
- You'll follow the recording and consent laws that apply where your event takes place, including laws about recording conversations and about filming in venues, schools and places of worship. Some states require everyone in a conversation to consent to being recorded.
- You'll get any permission the venue requires before filming there.
- You won't use the cameras to record anyone in a place where they'd reasonably expect privacy — bathrooms, changing areas, hotel rooms that aren't yours.
- Where guests are minors, you're responsible for their parents' or guardians' agreement to them appearing in the footage.
- You'll keep the kit away from water, and you won't take the equipment apart, modify it or install anything on it.
If a claim is made against us because of how a kit you booked was used, you agree to cover our reasonable costs in dealing with it.
Footage, film and ownership
Yours. We only get what we need to do the work.
You own your footage and your finished film, completely. We claim no ownership of either.
To do the job, you grant us a limited licence to store, copy, transcode and edit your footage for the sole purpose of producing and delivering your film and any add-ons you bought. That licence ends when the footage is deleted.
We will not post your footage, show it as an example or use it in marketing unless you separately and explicitly say yes. That is our standard on every order, not a setting you turn on — there is nothing to opt into, and the answer stays no unless you tell us otherwise in writing. You can name one person to approve the cut in your order notes, and we delete the raw footage after your film is delivered if you ask us to.
Every film is cut to a pre-cleared library track at no extra cost. If you ask for a specific commercial song, we clear that licence as a paid add-on; supplying us with music you haven't cleared, or asking us to use it, is not something we'll do.

Editing and delivery
Timelines, notes and how long we hold files.
Edit timelines are quoted from the day the kit reaches us — or the day your upload completes on the editing-only package — not from your event date. Peak season can add about a week, and we'll say so upfront when it applies.
Two rounds of notes are included on every order. You see a rough cut first; that's the moment to ask for a different track, a different order, or more or less of a particular person. Notes beyond the two included rounds may be quoted as extra work.
Films are delivered as a download link by email, in standard MP4 at both 4K and 1080p. We hold your footage and film for twelve months after delivery, offline on drives in our studio, and then destroy them. Download and back up your film when the link arrives — your copy is the one that matters, not ours.
If equipment failure, a shipping loss or a fault on our side means we can't deliver a film, our responsibility is to refund what you paid for the affected order.
Using this site
Short section, obvious rules.
Use the site for its intended purpose. Don't attempt to break into it, scrape it at scale, interfere with it, or use it to send anything unlawful. Don't copy the site's design or content for a competing service.
Keep your account and any delivery links you receive to yourself. A delivery link is unguessable but not password-protected, so anyone you forward it to can download your film.
Warranties and limitation of liability
The unavoidable legal part.
The service is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that a camera will never fail, that guests will film well, or that any particular moment will be captured.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim connected to your order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including the sentimental or irreplaceable value of a moment that wasn't recorded, footage lost to equipment failure, or shipping delays outside our control.
Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Disputes and governing law
Talk to us first.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before starting any formal proceeding, email us and give us 30 days to resolve the problem — most things end there. Any dispute that isn't resolved that way belongs in the state or federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
Changes and contact
How you'll know if this changes.
We may update these Terms. The version in force for your order is the one published when you booked, and we'll email you if we make a change that materially affects an order already placed. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
